Choirs

There are currently three choirs at Kingswood College with a total of about 175 pupils singing. This is approximately 25% of the pupil enrolment at the College.

The Kingswood College Senior Choir consists of around seventy-five boys and girls from the Senior School. The Choir sings full SATB and tackles a variety of music from 16th century to contemporary and pop and African in a variety of languages including English, Afrikaans, seSotho, isiXhosa and Latin. The ensemble meets three times a week to rehearse and performs at a number of Chapel services throughout the year, the most important being the Advent Carol Service at the end of every year. The Choir sings at the St Andrews College/Diocesan School for Girls Music Festival each year and in the community-based Masicule Massed Concert. The Choir entered for the Port Rex Lions Eisteddfod in East London in May 2015 where they achieved a Silver award.

The Choir performs at a variety of school and local functions throughout the year. The choristers always look forward to their annual Choir Camp at Assegaai Trails as well as their visit to Port Alfred where they sing at Settlers Park and Damant Lodge retirement complexes. Their music certainly brightens up the old folks' day! The Junior Choir has participated in the ATKV Applous Competition in Uitenhage for the last two years, achieving a Silver and a Bronze award.
