Learning an instrument

At the Music School we are inclusive and ambitious: we encourage everyone to consider doing music.

Music participation is encouraged by learning an instrument and joining an ensemble or by joining an ensemble only. For those children who do not have lessons in the Music School there are Junior School Recorder Groups and Marimba Groups and Choirs in both Junior and Senior Schools.

At present tuition is offered in Piano, Organ, Recorder, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, Horn, Euphonium, Trombone and Tuba. If you would like your child to learn an instrument, please enquire in writing. We will accommodate as many pupils as we can. The number of instruments we have available is, however, limited, and the timetable has its own constraints, so children may be placed on a waiting list.

An additional charge will be raised in respect of these lessons. A full term's written notice of discontinuance is required.

Music may be taken as a Subject from Grade 8.

Everyone who has lessons in the Music School must join an ensemble.
