Kingswood is well known for its friendly boarding houses. A relaxed, family atmosphere ensures that even the youngest children settle in quickly.
In both the boy’s and girl’s Boarding Houses a ‘home-away-from-home’ atmosphere is created through individualised care and attention for the pupils by the Housepersons, Matrons, Student Assistants and selected Grade 12 pupils.
A positive approach to discipline is adopted and pupils are encouraged to assume responsibility for their own actions. The accommodation is carefully designed and tastefully decorated to create a warm, homely atmosphere for the children.
The children are supervised and involved in a range of activities seven days a week although weekend leave-out for junior boarders is allowed.
Games rooms equipped with table tennis equipment, pool tables and television are used for evening recreation, whilst sport and healthy outdoor activities occupy the children in the afternoon.
Junior Girls Boarding
Intermediate House is home to about 36 Junior School girls from approximately six different countries. Houseperson Mrs Joanne Kelly is assisted by a Matron, seven Student Assistants, and a Senior School Head of House as well as three monitors who all look after the well-being and comfort of the girls. Plenty of fun activities ensure that the girls seldom have a moment to feel homesick.
Junior Boys Boarding
The Van Vuuren Village is home to our Junior School boy boarders. A complex of four houses make up the village. Each of these houses is in a wonderful setting and accommodates between twelve and seventeen boys. The boys are cared for by motherly matrons, eleven Student Assistants and Housemaster Mr Quinton Tait and his wife oversee the complex.
