Did you know that before Kingswood moved to its current site on Burton Street in 1896, the School was founded in what was known as the “Tin University” (behind what is now Winchester House, on Rhodes University campus).

As part of celebrations, member of our staff, pupils and OKs walked from the original site back to School House where a commemorative plaque was handed over to the school.

College Head, Dr Colleen Vassiliou, during her address to the school said: [Today] we stop to acknowledge the character filled men who stood on the hill 125 years ago with a dream to build a great school. We stop to appreciate the Kingswood College of today – a school that thrives in various areas and produces individuals who are a transforming influence in society. We stop to dream about the Kingswood College of tomorrow – knowing that even though we will move into an era of cyber physical systems, we will never lose focus of what is important to us. People, family, relationships, togetherness. Let us celebrate today – our great Kingswood College. Happy happy birthday!”
