Scholarships
At Kingswood, merit-based scholarships are awarded based on excellence in a particular field, such as academics, sport, or culture (including music), or for overall achievement as an all-rounder.
Each year, we offer a limited number of merit-based scholarships to girls and boys of outstanding potential entering Grades 5, 6, 8 or 10.
We take a holistic approach to awarding merit-based scholarships. Beyond achievements, we consider character, potential and alignment with the values of Kingswood (Purpose, Promise, and Beliefs) ensuring each recipient is someone who will thrive and contribute meaningfully to both our school and the wider community.

Guiding Principles
Supporting scholarships and needs-based assistance at Kingswood:
Kingswood College, through the Merit-based Scholarships and Financial Needs-Based Assistance Programme seeks to attract extraordinary talent and character to the College, to materially and measurably improve the school, inspire good in those around them, adding to its culture and performance while at the same time offering a holistic, meaningful education to deserving recipients.
Our Commitment
As a school and member of the educational community, Kingswood College is fully committed to:
- promoting our Methodist principles and teachings of John Wesley regarding the right use of privileges, strengths and blessings. They are gifts of God to be used for good. “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can”;
- upholding the constitutionally enshrined education rights of all our pupils, to empower them to reach as much of their potential as possible, by providing a comprehensive, well-rounded education in a joyous, Christian environment;
- nurturing moral, intellectual and civic virtues, preparing our pupils to become responsible, informed and engaged citizens of the global community, with a passion for lifelong learning; and
- redressing the inequities of the past with regard to educational opportunities for all children in South Africa.
We therefore recognise our need to serve the community and, where possible, to provide merit-based scholarships and financial needs-based assistance to pupils who will further our Purpose, Promise and Beliefs, bring levels of high excellence and have the opportunity to excel at the school and beyond.
Kingswood College is committed to assisting all applicants as best we can, in particular when a pupil and their family have shown a strong desire to be part of the Kingswood community or where it is clear the pupil will make a positive and lasting contribution to the school community.

At Kingswood, we believe that an excellent education should be accessible to all.
