The return of school rugby and more importantly the return of spectators made for a carnival atmosphere at City Lords, Kingswood College.
A highly fancied Graeme College team found the first half difficult as the Kingswood team looked comfortable in defence and repelled numerous waves of pressure. Kingswood opened the scoring with scrumhalf Rotino Flusk sniping to score the first try with the conversion making it 7-0. Kingswood spurned three further opportunities in the Graeme College 22m area just before the interval with the score remaining the same at the break.
The second half started with a bang, Kingswood struck first after multiple phases with fullback and man of the match Benoni Nhekairo scoring a wonderful team try to go 14-0 up. The momentum of the match however shifted with Kingswood ill-discipline giving away numerous penalties in succession yielding two tries to Graeme College to set up a nervy finish with the score sitting at 14-12.
Kingswood was awarded a late penalty which outside and kicker center Tadiwa Chikutiro duly converted for the game to finish with Kingswood winning a tight contest 17-12.
