Today we started a series of devotions for the Senior School entitled COWS (Cloud Of WitnesseS).
In chapter 11 of the book of Hebrews, the author lists stories of faithful people and then in verses 1-3 of chapter 12 we read, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart”.
The stories of men and women of faith long ago testify to the life-transforming love of Christ and also encourage us in our faith journeys.
We also have stories of faith right now!
Week 1
This week Rev Tim interviews Mr Makoni, Head of Department of Science. Mr Makoni started at Kingswood in 2009, is also a parent and preaches regularly at his local church. We thank him for sharing with us this week. Your faithfulness is a blessing!
Week 2
It’s week 2 of our COWS Series (Cloud Of Witnesses – Hebrews 12:1-3) and today we interview Mrs Joanne Kelly.
Mrs Kelly was a staff member from mid 2013 until 2018. She was a grade 6 teacher and also looked after our junior girl boarders as Houseperson of Hobson House (then called “intermediate” for a period). Mrs Kelly is teaching in Zambia now and is still a Kingswood parent. We thank her for sharing her story with us!
Week 3
In week three of our COWS Series (Cloud Of Witnesses, Hebrews 12:1-3), we interview an incredible young man in grade 7, Kutenda, who is also one of our Junior Chapel Stewards.
He talks with Rev Tim about his faith. Thank you for sharing Kutenda!
Week 4
In this final interview in our series we interview Matthew Jennings (OK 2016). Matthew is an old Wood House boy and was Head of the SCA (Student Christian Association), a prefect and a Chapel Steward. He is studying journalism and politics at Rhodes. He shares his journey of faith with us. Thank you Matthew!
