August is Women’s Month and what better way to truly celebrate it than by touching base with a few notable women in our very own Kingswood family. This is the fifth profile in our KC Women’s Month Series.
As we continue our KC Women’s Month Series today, we profile Ms Mphokolo Makara (OK 1999).
Ms Mphokolo Makara is a Transactor in Infrastructure Finance in the investment Banking Division of Rand Merchant Bank.
She matriculated in 1999 going on to do a BCom in Business Finance, Economics and Marketing and then completed her honours degree in Investment Management.
Her focus is to expand and grow the business and funding solutions offered to clients across the African continent, with a particular focus on jurisdictions which are strategic to the FirstRand Group and Rand Merchant Bank. She has concluded transactions in the aviation, industrial, power, health and transportation industries across both the public and private sector client base.
Some of her accolades include being awarded the Association of Black Security and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) Young Talent Award in 2006 and the Project Finance Deal of the Year in 2016 (Government of Kenya Ministry of Health/General Electric managed equipment services) and in 2018 (Roggeveld 140MW wind power plant). She is also a member of the Investment Analyst Society of Southern Africa and is also on RMB’s Investment Banking Division (IBD) Strategic Forum, a sub-committee of RMB’s IBD Management Board.
Mphokolo also leverages her professional skills by serving as a Non-Executive Board Member of the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (SOC) Limited while, also serving as a member of select subcommittees of the Board.
