A new chapter is begining for our Matric class of 2021

This afternoon, as the sun started to set over our School House lawns, so too the sun began to set on our 2021 Matric Class.

Many of our Kingswood pupils lined the Jubilee Pathway and applauded as Senior School Head, Mrs Tracy van Molendorff read out each name of the newest Old Kingswoodians as they processed up the pathway to be presented with their ties by the Old Kingswoodian Club.

The Class of 2021 were accompanied by parents, guardians or special friends as they processed up the Jubilee Pathway to first be bid adieu by our College Head, Dr. Vassiliou after which they received their OK Club Life-Membership Certificate from the vice-president of the OK Club, Richard Gaybba followed by being presented with their OK ties by the President of the OK Club, Colin Stirk.

In a special and meaningful gesture, the recipients were presented with their ties by parents, siblings, or grandparents if they too were Old Kingswoodians. Past OK Club president, Ross Purdon, delivered the key-note address with great aplomb before the 2021 school head prefects Wanda Madasa and Usivile Zweni presented the president of the OK Club, Colin Stirk, with the Class of 2021’s first contribution to the Legends Fund.

To cap off the ceremony, the junior school boarders delivered a resounding rendition of the school war cry!

This is always a moving and significant event for our Matrics as they walk up the Jubilee pathway surrounded by not only their peers, but also by names etched on the Jubilee Pathway plaques of many Kingswoodians who have come before them.

This ceremony is a significant event in the College calendar: for our Matrics, it marks the beginning of the end of their schooling career. For their parents, it’s a moment to share in their child’s success and celebrate the men and women they have become.

For the Old Kingswoodian Club, it is a chance to welcome in the newest members of the global OK family, and to mark the occasion with the ceremony this deserves.

We wish the Class of 2021 all the best for the future and would like to see them back on the KC campus as often as possible.

Welcome to the OK Club, Matric and Bridging Year Class of 2021!
