On the 16th June 2022, we hosted a whopping nine reunions, in an effort to make up for time lost to the Covid-19 Pandemic. As a result, this was the largest reunion of Kingswoodians outside the Centenary and 125 Jubilee Celebrations!
The groups included 10, 20, 30, and 40-year reunions. The air was abuzz with chatter and laughter, as over 100 Old Kingswoodians shared stories of their school days with each other.
The reunion weekend kicked off with registration on Thursday afternoon, followed by the dedication of the Wyvern ‘new bar’ that was largely funded by the Class of 1991. After this, guest made their way to the Gala Dinner in the High-Performance Centre where guest speaker Keith James shared memories of his teaching days when many of the guests were his pupils. Reunion members enjoyed delicious food, and spent the evening catching up with old friends and teachers.
The next morning started off with a Chapel Service. Representatives of each class were able to light a candle in remembrance of those who have passed on from their respective classes.
Brunch was served in the school museum, followed by a school tour. The group was able to visit their old boarding houses and classrooms, as well as see all the changes that have been made to our beautiful campus.
Friday evening included the annual KDay war cries at City Lords and OK rugby and hockey. The Kingswood spirit could be felt, as school children and OKs sang together, in preparation for what is always an exciting and memorable weekend.
Saturday was spent watching sport, and reconnecting with more Kingswoodians. The weekend was brought to a close with a brunch on Sunday morning. A jam-packed weekend came to an end as we wished the group farewell on their journey home. It was wonderful to have you back, and we hope to see you again soon!
