“….Do what you can, with what you have, where you are…” – Nelson Mandela
Our Kingswoodians have been very busy today with in various spaces around campus for Mandela Day.
Our littlest Kingswoodians spent the morning making soup from vegetables that they had brought to school especially for the occasion. They got to chop, peel and spread a whole lot of love into soup which will be given to one of our partner schools.
Our Grade R class have also been hard at work this term learning how to loom and have already completed a number of beanies which will be donated to those in need.
The Junior School pupils also spent the day working toward making games and toys to be donated to schools and individuals who could benefit from the donations.
In the Senior School, our community engagement projects are aimed in such a way that outreach projects continue for longer periods of time in order to facilitate meaningful, lasting and purposeful engagement.
No matter the project, however BIG or SMALL, our Kingswoodians have seized the opportunity today to acknowledge the legacy of Nelson Mandela.
As one of our littlest Kingswoodians said today:
“Mandela Day is about being kind, caring and loving”.
Let us all take a note out of her book and endeavour to spread kindness, hope and light to all those around us.
