For decades, a small room in the Kingswood Chapel has remained unused. But thanks to a team effort, this dormant space has recently been transformed.
At the back of the Chapel, up the spiral staircase, is a small room, just before you walk into the gallery. Many years ago, this was where the Chapel choir changed into their robes.
For over a decade or more now, it has simply been an unused space, but that has all changed.
Rev Tim, with the assistance of the interior decorating skills of Mrs Kim Barnard (OK 1998), the maintenance department and some generous parents, have transformed this space into a prayer room and small group meeting room.
At the front, we wanted to put up a cross, so Rev Tim turned to an Old Kingswoodian, Rob Moss (OK 1971), a skilled carpenter. Rob is a fourth generation Kingswoodian and attended from 1963 – 1971, as did his brothers and sons.
Rob was delighted to make the cross and decided to give the fruit of his labour to the new prayer room. He shared how one of his brothers gave his life to the Lord in that room, making it a special place for him.
Rob and Glynis sent all three of their children to Kingswood – Vanessa (OK 1997), Stephen (OK 1999), and William (OK 2002). Vanessa and Stephen’s names both appear on the board in the south transept since they were both Head Chapel Stewards.
Our thanks go to Rob, Kim, Rev Tim and all who were involved in the transformation of this space. We are grateful and trust that many more pupils will come to know Christ in this new space.
