A huge congratulations to the Lebone Centre and the Little Red Dragon Preschool on being named the ECD Centre of Excellence at the recent Makhanda Teaching Awards!

Kingswood is exceptionally proud of the Lebone Centre and the Little Red Dragon, who have recently been named the ECD Centre of Excellence at the inaugural Makhanda Teaching Awards event held on the 29th of August. Established in 2006, the Lebone Centre is Kingswood College’s flagship community engagement programme and is administered by the Integrated Community Development Projects Trust (a registered NGO).

With fierce competition within Makhanda, which boasts world-class institutions and educators, it is a wonderful achievement for Lebone and the Little Red Dragon to be named amongst the other winners in the various categories.

This award speaks to their ongoing commitment to education, and their dedication to excellence despite various challenges. Jamaine Krige from the Mail & Guardian summed up this commitment when she said “As the tiny city (of Makhanda) continues to makes strides in education, it stands as a shining example, challenging and inspiring others across the nation to stand up and stand together, investing in the future through the transformative power of education”.

A special mention must be made of the ECD practitioners, Linda Israel and Anneline Sauls, who are an integral part of the Little Red Dragon.

From Kingswood – Well done to the Lebone Centre!
