Following the recent International Day of Women and Girls in Science, it is wonderful to celebrate the achievements of young OK Megan du Preez (OK 2019).
Megan, currently pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry at North-West University, has recently returned from presenting at her first international conference in Keystone, Colorado, focused on mitochondria signalling in physiology and disease.
Her presentation was based on her recently published work, “OXPHOS complex deficiency in congenital myopathy: a systematic review”. Reflecting on the experience, Megan described it as a “privilege to share and discuss it with other researchers.”
Her achievement marks an exciting milestone in her academic journey and highlights the growing impact of young Old Kingswoodians on the global scientific stage.
