1st Team Report

The girls’ first team water polo travelled to PE for the Alexander Road water polo festival. It was a busy two days with the team playing 11 matches. The strength of the opposition varied, but it was an ideal opportunity to work on patterns of play and combinations for St Peters later this month in Johannesburg.

We won 9 of our 11 matches, drew one and lost one. The team gelled nicely together and there were some excellent attacks where we were able to use our awareness and communication in the pool to score. Our defence was solid. All the players, except for our goalkeeper, contributed to our impressive 66 total goals scored at the festival. A highlight was our match against Collegiate. An win of 5-3 was an excellent result, but what was most impressive was how we played together as a unit. We are hoping to repeat this sort of performance at St Peters. The whole team must be congratulated on their commitment to the game and the spirit in which they played this weekend.

U16 Report

The Alexander Road tour was an overall very successful tour, with winning 9 out of 11 matches and drawing and losing 1. The team had some challenges as it was a mixture of under 15 and under 16 girls with very little time to practice before hand. However, the girls when into the tournament very positive and the results definitely showed. It was a great opportunity for the under 15 girls to learn and step up to an under 16 level, which will serve them well in the future games to come.
