Kingswood girls’ hockey played our annual derby against DSG this past weekend whilst enjoying the festivities of our Jubilee year celebrations. The first two matches were played on Thursday where DSG managed two wins. Saturday proved to be a tough competitive day with ten matches being played, of which Kingswood drew one and lost nine.

The first team girls played with tremendous heart and grit and managed to score the opening goal for the match putting them on a high in the first quarter. Unfortunately in the second quarter there was a quick counter-attack from DSG resulting in an equalizer.

After many great build-up plays and brilliant two-touch hockey, Kingswood underwent a 4-2 loss at the end of the game. The girls put maximum effort into their attack and played strategic defence. A special mention to Bridget Mildenhall for putting in some extra dives and dedication to keep DSG’s attackers out the D. The goals for Kingswood were scored by Amy Mills with great positioning in the D to score an open goal past the keeper, and Ciana Daniels who got the final touch from a deflection off a DSG stick into the goals.

The day was filled with great pride and excitement and a brilliant performance was given by all.
