Last weekend over 90 pupils signed up for our annual Christian Youth Camp in Boknes (near Kenton). There were no tents or hikes but hot water and warm beds so we called it the ‘Christian Glamp’ (glamorous camping).

This camp is part of the Confirmation programme but is open to the whole senior school. Rev Tim led the camp, assisted by a number of young adults and the Senior Chapel Stewards.

The focus this year was about creating space for the campers to encounter God.

Rev Tim invited the campers to reflect on what or who is distracting them from God and where their attention goes. They learnt about prayer and having an expectant heart in faith. On Saturday morning they had an opportunity to spend 40 minutes by themselves on the beach with a guided time of reflection.

The games were fun, the food was good, the conversations were deep and the worship meaningful.

“It was so good to see so many people want to come on camp and then to hear the amazing stories of how the Holy Spirit moved in their lives. I am grateful for my incredible leadership team as well as the Grobler family and Ms Jacquie van der Westhuizen for being our chefs. Thank you to our anonymous donor who helped cover camp expenses, the transport department and parents who supported their children. I’m looking forward to see the fruit of this camp and can’t wait for the next one!” – Rev Tim
