The new president of the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa, Dr Bayanda Mbambisa received the presidential chain from immediate past president Dr Linda Visser recently. This is what Bayanda had to say after accepting this honour.
“As I head into my 2-year term as President of the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa (OSSA), I feel the weight of responsibility of the Presidential chain and also feel humbled by the faith placed in me by my profession. I am working with a wonderful, hard-working and diverse EXCO who are committed to ensuring that Ophthalmology and Ophthalmologists in SA thrive”
Bayanda is certainly busy lady but still finds the time to serve on the Kingswood College Council. Her son Mila is currently a Grade 10 boarder in Jagger House.
She is also a keen mountain climber and has successfully climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and during our Jubilee Year in 2019 she joined the Kingswood team that climbed to the summit of the Compassberg near Nieu Bethesda.
During 2020, we celebrated Women’s Month by touching base with a few notable women in our very own Kingswood family. Dr Mbambisa was our very first profile! See the full post here: Women’s Month Series – Dr Bayanda Mbambisa, OK 1992
