The Kingswood 1st team hockey girls had their annual derby against DSG on KDay this past weekend.
The atmosphere was electric with a massive crowd to support both teams. Before the match started, each school’s Grade 8s performances their skit which started the match on a high.
Kingswood started with a bang, dominating DSG’s half of the field and managing to get a short corner. Olivia Connellan managed to hit a straight beat slightly off the ground getting us 1-0 up in the first few minutes. Unfortunately DSG came back with some fast play leveling the game to 1-1.
The game was evenly matched with multiple entries into each defensive circle and saves from both keepers and a fair amount of short corners for both teams.
Anna Mackay had some great saves to ensure we stayed in the game. Unfortunately DSG managed to get another 2 goals in before the end of the match.
Despite being 3-1 down, our girls played with heart and determination until the very last minute.
We are super proud of the great sportsmanship the ladies showed and look forward to the last few games of the season ahead.
