The Old Kingswoodian Club hosted their annual Matric and BY luncheon on the 22nd of September, 2022. This is an opportunity for the Matrics and BYs to be introduced to the OK Club and Foundation Office.
The annual Matric and Bridging Year (BY) Luncheon took place on 22nd of September 2022. The idea behind it is to create an opportunity for the Matrics and BYs to be introduced to the Old Kingswoodian (OK) and Foundation office. Throughout the scholar’s school career, there are very few occasions where they would have interacted with the OK Club Office staff members. However, once they leave Kingswood, they become Old Kingswoodians, and the OK Club Office becomes their direct link to their alma mater.
Each year, the luncheon hosts a guest speaker. This year, Amy Webster (nee Matthews OK 2008), whose children are currently at KC as the 5th generation of the Matthews family, spoke to the Matrics and BYs about the importance that the role of Old Kingswoodian has played in her life, encouraging the students to embrace this new journey, remembering always, the place where they grew up;
“Kingswood will always be the place that shaped you into the person who went out into the world. You will change, you will grow, and you will become more than you are today. And so you should. That is part of life. But who you are today, will always be treasured and remembered at Kingswood. And as an Old Kingswoodian, who you become will be celebrated”.
The Matrics, BYs and invited guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by The Wyvern. The students were also addressed by Mr Carey Hobson and Mrs Megan Erasmus, who explained the roles of the OK Club as well as the Foundation Office. We wish the Matrics and BYs all the best with their upcoming exams, and we look forward to seeing them back on campus soon, as Old Kingswoodians.
