This past weekend our 1st XV and U16 team traveled to East London to take part in the Grens Rugby Festival. This was the first outing of the rugby season, and we look forward to seeing what the winter season has in store for our boys.
1st XV vs Cambridge High School (25-7)
Kingswood College 1st XV got their season off to a winning note at the Grens Festival in East London on Saturday, beating Cambridge 25-7.
Early season rust was clearly evident, however the team grew into the game with each minute and eventually scored three tries in the first half to lead 15-0.
The extremely windy conditions did not help either team in a scrappy affair with Kingswood reduced to 13 players at one point in the second half. The team remained composed in this time to score a fourth try and eventually a fifth score before conceding one at the death.
With the season officially in swing we look forward to an improved performance from our 1st team at the Border Schools day vs Grens with the rest of the rugby club playing a derby away at Despatch.
U16A vs Grens (0-8)
The U16s travelled to the Grens festival on Saturday, 11th March, where we played Grens in the final match of the day.
The boys played with great determination, however unfortunately losing to a lucky try in a very strong wind.
The boys never gave up and continued applying pressure throughout the game with numerous try scoring opportunities but unfortunately finishing was not a good skill on the day.
Many positives were taken out of the game and the boys are looking forward to another good challenge as they take on Despatch this coming weekend.
