On the 13th of March, every pupil in the Senior School, as well as all Senior School staff took part in Kingswood’s first “Making a Difference Day” for 2025!

At Kingswood College, community engagement remains an integral part of the broader school curriculum. With busy schedules for everyone in the school, we believe it is important to show pupils that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact. Each term, we dedicate a day for the entire Senior School to go out into the community and make a difference.

This term, our community engagement activities included: the Kingswood Concert Band inviting local preschools to watch and take part in a concert, a river clean-up, a litter collection, painting at the community library, painting angel wings at school, visiting the SPCA, playing Bingo at Brookshaw Home for the Elderly, visiting the Home of Joy orphanage, removing invasive trees on Mountain Drive, packing food at Food for Futures, making beanies, reading with children at George Dickerson Primary in partnership with the Nali’Bali literacy project, and gardening at the APD Clinic (a clinic for the disabled), the hospital, and Commemoration Church.

“Everyone can experience the joy and blessing of generosity; because everyone has something to give” – Jan Grace. Well done and thank you to all our Kingswood pupils and staff for giving back to our community.

The concept of Make a Difference Day (MAD) began a few years ago on Mandela Day when Kingswood recognised the impact that could be made by sending the entire school out together. While many of these community partners are visited weekly during class lessons or enrichment periods, the scale of impact when large numbers of pupils contribute at once was remarkable. As a result, MAD has become a termly initiative for the entire Senior School.

A heartfelt thank you to our Kingswood Senior pupils, teachers, and support staff for making a difference in our community.
