Learner Support Specialist

As a leading co-educational independent school, based in Makhanda / Grahamstown, Kingswood College invites applications for the above post.

Applicants should:

  • Have a suitable teaching qualification and professional qualification in learner support;
  • A minimum of 10 years’ teaching experience, including 5 years of remedial teaching experience with primary school pupils;
  • Experience with administering assessments to ascertain specific areas needing learning support:
  • Have a sound understanding of the strategies and latest research to assist pupils, and to support teachers of mixed-ability classes;
  • Have an understanding and passion for pupils who learn differently;
  • Be familiar with the IEB Curriculum  and CAPS National Curriculum, and have a future orientated approach to education;
  • Have the ability to manage pupil profiles for pupils experiencing difficulties in learning;
  • Have a commitment to continuous personal and professional development;
  • Have proof of SACE registration as well as a sexual offenders clearance;
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be willing to work within a team;
  • Have a proactive, dynamic and motivated approach to education;
  • Be willing to participate fully in the co-curricular programme of the school.
