The beginning of the school year is usually a hive of activity as the pupils sign up or audition for an ensemble.
Then it’s time for some workshopping.
This provides the opportunity for the ensemble members to become acquainted with their teammates and to start work on the year’s repertoire in an intensive way – a few hours rather than a short rehearsal session.
The Senior and Junior String Ensembles spent a recent Sunday morning together playing new repertoire and getting to know each other through a variety of team building games.
The highlights of the session were playing the final product of the well-known “Jerusalema” and coming up with team war cries. A musical morning well spent!
The 2023 Senior Choir cohort gathered for a positive and productive workshop this past Sunday. From “Alleluia” (G. Young) weaving through “Bogorozitse Devo” (A Pärt) and concluding with “Bayasibiza” (Barrett and Ndlovu), our future audience can look forward to a fun yet cerebrally stimulating repertoire.
And the Junior Choir members returned just before lunch from their annual Choir Camp at Assegaai Trails. Ms Marni van der Westhuizen, and her colleagues reported that the children were in good spirits and were well behaved.
They managed to get in a good few hours of rehearsal time but there was also time for some fun, including games and the swimming pool. The volleyball, in particular, was a big attraction!
We look forward to hearing all these groups in action soon!
