Hurricane winds on Friday proved to be no match for the Gqeberha Golfers, families and friends, who came out in their numbers to support the OK Club Branch event at Little Walmer Golf Estate.
With blustery conditions and rain around lunch time, there was doubt as to whether Gqeberha golfers would brave the course on Friday afternoon. Despite this, the golfers arrived, dressed warmly and took to the beautiful Little Walmer golf course for a challenging 9 holes.
There were many OKs taking part, as well as representatives from Grey High School, St Andrews College, Dale College, Graeme College and Selborne College. The school champion this year was Grey High School. The longest drive was awarded to Keegan Frisch and nearest to the pin was Kevin Lee (OK 2008).
Also included in the proceedings was an address from the College Head, Mr Leon Grove. There were also several lucky draw prizes, as well as two for the children, which created great excitement! Families and friends joined in on the fun, which included delicious food and live music. It was a fantastic evening, spent with old and new friends.
Our special thanks must go to all the sponsors for the day, including Birch’s (Nic Mowbray), Rebus (Dave Mason 2001), Pinion (Hugh Oxenham OK 1999), Dinkie (OK 2001) and Bryan Rowsell, Northfield Engineering (Robert Archibald OK 1985) and Guy Moorcroft, The OK Club, Biggs Plumbing (Basil Biggs OK 2001) and Mowerama (Richie Rautenbach OK 2018). Our special thanks must also go to Craig Scott (OK 1995) and Hugh Oxenham (OK 1999) for the enormous effort they put into the successful golf day. We very much look forward to the next one.
