It was a wonderful weekend for the Classes of 1963, 1964, 1965 & 1966 as they celebrated their reunion by reconnecting with old friends, sharing in laughter and reminiscing on days gone by.

The reunion guests were warmly welcomed back to Kingswood College on Friday afternoon, where they attended the Old Kingswoodian Club AGM. Following a successful meeting, three of the four Heads of School joined the guests at the Wyvern. The attendees thoroughly enjoyed meeting Head Boy Abulele Mbanga, Head Girl Mika Davies, and Deputy Head Boy Matthew Paxton. We extend our sincere thanks to them for taking the time to share in the occasion. Witnessing the exchange of stories between them and our reunion guests was truly special and undoubtedly a highlight for all.

The evening continued at the Wyvern, where the classes relived their school spirit with war cries and enjoyed a delicious spit braai meal, expertly prepared by Joey and Garth Bradfield.

On Saturday morning, guests gathered in the Kingswood Museum for a delightful brunch, catered by Capitol Caterers. As has become tradition, the various classes posed for their photographs on Cop’s Lawn before embarking on a campus tour, led by Mr Carey Hobson (Director of Advancement). Pupils guided class members through the houses, enriching the experience with their insights. The stories shared along the way highlighted that while much has changed over the past 60 years, the essence of Kingswood remains the same.

Following their campus tour, guests enjoyed another delicious, light lunch at the Wyvern before taking a restful break ahead of the evening’s formal dinner. The dinner was a truly special occasion, attended by College Head Leon Grove and his wife, Jackie, who joined us for the celebration.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Grade 3 class and their teachers, Mrs Ballantyne and Miss Weppelman, for their hard work in creating the most beautiful placemats for our guests. These thoughtful keepsakes added a vibrant touch to the tables and sparked many fond conversations.

Yet another superb meal was served at the Wyvern as guests were addressed by both the College Head and Mr Martin Pengelly (OK 1965). Laughter filled the air as stories were shared, making for an evening filled with joy and camaraderie.

The weekend concluded with the Foundation Day Chapel Service, where the moving hymn God Be with You Till We Meet Again echoed through the chapel. A farewell tea on Cop’s Lawn marked the end of the official reunion events.

Many attendees extended the festivities by heading down to Port Alfred for a boat cruise and braai in the afternoon. Our gratitude goes to Mr Justin de Wet Steyn (OK 1963) and Mr Brian Stocks (OK 1965) for organising these memorable outings.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to each and every attendee for making this reunion so special. We wish you safe travels home and hope you cherished the time spent with us.
