The OK Club hosted the Grade 12s at the Wyvern Club for the annual Matric Luncheon, a special event marking the beginning of their symbolic journey from pupils of the school to alumni, as members of the OK Club. A special thank you to Mr Chris Hobson (OK 1990), Chairman of the OK Club, for hosting this event.
The luncheon introduced the Matrics to the significance of the OK Club within the wider Kingswood community. Pupils and invited guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the Wyvern Club.
This year, the Matrics were addressed by Mr Carey Hobson (OK 1974 & Director: Advancement) and guest speaker Mr Richard Gaybba (OK 2001), Kingswood College Chair of Council and active Vice Chair of the OK Club Executive.
Mr Gaybba reminded the class that there is no time like the present to get involved. He spoke about the importance of the role they will play as OKs, the value of contributing from the outset, and the strength of connections within the global Kingswood community. He encouraged the leavers to reflect on what they bring to this group, emphasizing that their contributions as alumni not only strengthen the school and support its pupils, but also enrich their own lives – keeping the golden thread of Kingswood close and maintaining a connection they will carry with them always.
The OK Club looks forward to welcoming this fine group of young men and women as life members after their final exams later this year.
