Kingswood College is proud to announce that our JSE Investment Challenge team; “The Renaissance Traders”; Luke van Zummeren, Aeryn Putzier, Thomas Wilmot, and Ewan Bradfield, won the 2025 JSE Investment Challenge in South Africa. The challenge saw robust participation and impressive returns, with competing portfolios demonstrating resilience and sound investment decisions despite a challenging economic environment. Participants navigated market fluctuations with skill and delivered noteworthy performances.
This year, 13 403 teams took part in the annual virtual trading competition. Each team was given a virtual sum of R1,000,000 to invest in JSE-listed stocks, with their performance tracked and ranked against other school and university teams throughout the challenge.
We are proud to announce that The Renaissance Traders, Luke van Zummeren, Aeryn Putzier, Thomas Wilmot, and Ewan Bradfield, achieved an incredible 30% growth on their investment, placing them in 1st place nationally. They were flown to together with Kingswood Business Studies teacher, Mr Spring, to Johannesburg for the award ceremony where they were given the awards and a handsome monetary prize.
Kingswood College Head, Leon Grové said, “I am exceptionally proud of our pupils. The financial literacy, creativity, and sound decision-making they have demonstrated throughout this challenge are invaluable skills that will serve them well as they pursue further education and step into the the world of work.”
Group leader, Thomas Wilmot said they were incredibly grateful to have had this experience and that they have all learned so much through the process.
