Team TITANS from Kingswood College must be congratulated for their remarkable achievement in securing 1st place in the Speculator Portfolio monthly competition of the JSE Investment Challenge! This talented group, comprised entirely of matric students—Tapiwa Zhanda, Sipho Mdletye, and Thato Iviwe Gqoli—has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in the realm of investment.

Despite the rigorous demands of their academic schedules, the Titans showcased impressive strategic skills and a commitment to excellence. Achieving an outstanding 8% net monthly growth during a period filled with study and preparation for preliminary exams is no small feat. Their hard work culminated in an extraordinary total growth of 18% for the month, placing them at the top of the competition among all participating schools.

JSE Investment Challenge

In the challenge, participants test their share trading skills through an ongoing annual simulated virtual trading programme. Each team is given an imaginary sum of R1 000 000 to invest in JSE-listed companies. Their performance is tracked and measured in a competition against other teams taking part in the Challenge. The top performers win fantastic prizes. The Challenge has been creating interest in the dynamic environment of the stock market for over 50 years.

Our pupil’s performance placed them 1st out of all the schools. Their dedication to their portfolio-investment approach to managing shares on the stock market, and the ability to excel in their studies, highlights their exceptional drive and business acumen. The JSE Investment Challenge not only tests participants’ financial acumen but also their ability to manage time effectively and work as a cohesive team. The Titans’ success is a testament to their drive and business insight, proving that they can excel both in the classroom and in competitive environments.

As they celebrate this significant milestone, we are immensely proud of their outstanding achievement. The dedication and perseverance exhibited by Tapiwa, Sipho, and Thato inspire us all, and we eagerly anticipate their continued success in future endeavors.
