One of our Kingswood Junior musicians, Victor took part in the Makhanda National Music Competition last week.
For this competition, he prepared four pieces from the Grade 5 repertoire (1 from each style period). He chose to perform all four of these pieces from memory.
There were five competitors in the preliminary rounds (mostly from Gqeberha). He proceeded to the semi-final round on Saturday morning, where he was chosen to perform in the final prestige concert on Saturday evening.
Here he played the Prelude by Gliere and won the First Prize in the Junior Category.
Victor was also awarded the prize for the most promising entrant from Makhanda.
Congratulations, Victor. This is an amazing achievement – we are very proud of you!
