The annual Midlands Dinner in Bedford is a much looked forward to event in the Kingswoodian Club calendar – and this year did not disappoint. Despite a very busy time of the year for everyone, Kingswoodians and friends met at the Bedford Club for a delicious meal and evening together, which was topped with an exciting Springboks Victory.
Leon Grové (College Head) and his wife Jackie, Tracy van Molendorff (Senior School Head) and Carissa Wilson (Junior Head) were joined by other members of Kingswood management and staff who drove up from Makhanda to be a part of the evening with us. We also welcomed President of the OK Club, Chris Hobson and his wife Wendy as well as Active Vice-Chair, Kyle van Niekerk and his wife Kelly. Charles Wienand and his wife Robyn were our Old Andrean representatives, and it was wonderful that they could join us. We value our ongoing friendship with the Old Andrean community.
College Head, Leon Grové addressed the guests, speaking on the importance of progressing whilst maintaining our traditions and Kingswood values.
During the course of the evening OK President, Chris Hobson and College Head Leon Grové presented Tane Hughes with a gift as recognition for his generous support of Kingswood’s Livestock Project by offering grazing for our cattle for the past two years.
It was a fun-filled evening attended by many different generations of Kingswoodians that added a certain richness to the event. The unique Kingswood camaraderie was once again evident as this group celebrated their school through many stories that were told and memories that were re-lived. This event is indeed special in that it has taken place for well over 60 years now – what an amazing tradition.
We thank the Bedford Club for hosting us for the evening. We always feel very welcome and do appreciate the effort that goes into hosting us. A special thanks must also go to Keith and Karen Morgan and their team who treated us to a delicious meal. The success of events such as this does depend on a good attendance so thank you to all those who attended.
