Kingswood Musician Excels at National Competition

One of our Kingswood Junior musicians, Victor took part in the Makhanda National Music Competition last week. There were five competitors in the preliminary rounds (mostly from Gqeberha). He proceeded to the semi-final round on Saturday morning, where he was chosen to perform in the final prestige concert on Saturday evening.

Little Shop of Horrors a Roaring Success

Our Senior School recently put on the production of the The Little Shop of Horrors to sold out audiences. We asked our HOD of Drama, Mrs Jess Wright to write a reflection on this experience after the Covid-19 pandemic had put an end to live theatre performances for over two years.

Kingswood 1st XI Girls Hockey vs DSG

The Kingswood 1st team hockey girls had their annual derby against DSG on KDay this past weekend.
The atmosphere was electric with a massive crowd to support both teams. Before the match started, each school’s grade 8s performances their skit which started the match on a high.

Kingswood 1st XI Boys vs St Andrew’s College

The atmosphere was set for a titanic battle last night. The Kingswood boys were ready for the battle and their focus set on one goal. The game started off with a bang as we put pressure on the St Andrew’s keeper with three goal-scoring opportunities.

KDay Debating vs SAC & DSG

The Kingswood Debating Teams engaged in an epic K-Day Debate on Tuesday evening. We faced teams from both St Andrew’s and DSG, and held our own admirably.

KDay Squash vs St Andrew’s & DSG

A good level of support for both schools made for quite a festive atmosphere at the St Andrew’s squash courts on Monday night. The evening saw the top 6 players from both schools kicked off with Tyenu Cannon facing off against SAC’s Ross Gordon. The number 6 match was a more tightly contested affair than the 3/0 score line would attest to with Cannon taking some time to get accustomed to the SAC players unorthodox style of play. After taking the 2nd game 17/15 the momentum definitively shifted in Kingswood’s favour.

K-Day 2022

After a two year hiatus, KDay week is back! We are so looking forward to having our parents and broader Kingswood community come and support our pupils as they take on St Andrew’s College, St Andrew’s Preparatory School and the Diocesan School for Girls in the much anticipated annual derby between our schools.

Dr Emmanuel Taban visits Kingswood College

This morning our Kingswood pupils were fortunate enough to attend a talk in our Kingswood College Memorial Chapel by Dr Emmanuel Taban. While the talk centred on his own life journey, the true power of Dr Taban’s talk was the fact that he told our pupils to not only be dreamers, but to be doers. The road to success is not an easy one. Many obstacles will inevitably come our way. It is how we choose to face those obstacles, which will predict our true success.
