On Monday, 29 March 2021, Kingswood College hosted the inaugural Uyinene Mrwetyana Commemorative Lecture in partnership with the Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation.
The vision for this annual event was that it should seek to remember and celebrate the life of Uyinene around the time of her birthday each year. A day to stop, pause and reflect on who Uyinene was and the legacy that she has left behind.
Steve Gardner retired from the Kingswood staff at the end of 2020 having served as Business Manager at Kingswood for 15 years from January 2006 till December 2020. His contribution to the school was immense and under his astute guidance many changes and new buildings popped up on the Kingswood campus. However, Steve’s passion for Kingswood was shared with his passion for golf, especially at his home club, The Royal Port Alfred Golf Club.
Our pupils wrote International Benchmark Tests in English and Mathematics at the end of last year and certificates were handed out to those who achieved distinction and high distinction passes. Well done to all these pupils!
18 of our pupils received their DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) diploma which is internationally recognised, and awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify candidates’ proficiency in French.
