The Kingswood Memorial Chapel was opened in 1962 with over 2,000 people present. On Sunday we celebrated this milestone with a special service in the Chapel. There were also a number of reunion groups in attendance – 1960-62 and 1970-72.
The heart of our school.
A special place for many Kingswoodians.
A place where we can go to pray.
A place where we can go to be still.
A place where we can celebrate and honour.
Our Kingswood Chapel.
Today, Kingswood mourns the loss of and celebrates the life of Mr Steve Gardner (OK 1976), who died peacefully this weekend with his family by his side.
One of our Kingswood Junior musicians, Victor took part in the Makhanda National Music Competition last week. There were five competitors in the preliminary rounds (mostly from Gqeberha). He proceeded to the semi-final round on Saturday morning, where he was chosen to perform in the final prestige concert on Saturday evening.
The anticipated hype around the K-Day fixture was played out in front of a packed audience on Saturday. Both teams gave their all from the very start in a brutally intense encounter.
Our Senior School recently put on the production of the The Little Shop of Horrors to sold out audiences. We asked our HOD of Drama, Mrs Jess Wright to write a reflection on this experience after the Covid-19 pandemic had put an end to live theatre performances for over two years.
The Kingswood 1st team hockey girls had their annual derby against DSG on KDay this past weekend.
The atmosphere was electric with a massive crowd to support both teams. Before the match started, each school’s grade 8s performances their skit which started the match on a high.
On the 16th June 2022, we hosted a whopping nine reunions, in an effort to make up for time lost to the Covid-19 Pandemic. As a result, this was the largest reunion of Kingswoodians outside the Centenary and 125 Jubilee Celebrations!
Our Senior Netball Girls brought the HEAT across the board yesterday afternoon culminating in a nail-biting 1st Team match against DSG.
