At the annual Neil Aggett Memorial Lecture that took place earlier today, we had the honour of welcoming Lord Peter Hain as our 2023 guest speaker.
This lecture takes place each year to celebrate the life of Dr Neil Aggett and is held to honour his legacy. In a world where there are so many social injustices that take place every day, it is important that we continue to celebrate the life of Neil Aggett as he advocated for those who found themselves at the receiving end of social injustices.
Our 1st Boys and Girls took part in the annual Selborne and Clarendon Singles and Mixed Doubles Tournament from the 3rd to the 4th of March in East London.
17 of Kingswood Junior swimmers represented the Albany Swimming Team at the Inter District Gala at Merrifield Preparatory School in East London on Thursday.
Last week on Friday the Kingswood Livestock Fund was re-launch at an event at The Wyvern. Despite very inclement weather, the support was incredible, with over 70 people attending the evening.
On Friday our Kingswoodians celebrated “Random Acts of Kindness Day”, which is celebrated on the 17th of February. Despite the rainy weather, our pupils’ spirits were high as they went about bringing cheer, happiness, light and laughter to those around them in various ways.
The beginning of the school year is usually a hive of activity as the pupils sign up or audition for an ensemble. Then it’s time for some workshopping. This provides the opportunity for the ensemble members to become acquainted with their teammates and to start work on the year’s repertoire in an intensive way – a few hours rather than a short rehearsal session.
Another great weekend was had for the water polo club this past weekend. Our U14 girls departed on Thursday for the Pitcairn Cup Water Polo Tournament hosted by Reddam House Constantia in Cape Town.
A thrilling Championship Gala was held on the evening of the 14 February (Valentine’s Day) at the Kingswood College Aquatic Centre.
We congratulate our Kingswood Boys Tennis team on winning the 2023 Knowling Tennis Shield recently.
