Today a memorial service for Mr Stephen Holder, former Director of Music will take place. Former pupils, Eugenie Brand and Emily Fryer put together this accompanying video clip to honour their teacher. The music played in the montage is a performance by Mr Stephen Holder and Ruru Makoni, who is also an Old Kingswoodian.
Now, more than ever, we realise that online teaching can never fully replace face-to-face interactions and that classrooms, although the way they operate may change in the future, can never be replaced by full-time online teaching.
Before this weekend, we wouldn’t have thought ‘virtual’ reunions were even possible – but our classes of 1990, 2000 and 2010 showed us just how wrong we were!
Striving towards a common goal of trying to see how far in the world we could get by logging km’s for running, cycling or walking, our four schools managed a total of 8300km with over 800 submissions by members from the four schools.

The year in which the world stood still, driven apart by the covid-19 pandemic. The year in which the world started to realise what really matters. The year that saw our fours schools join together as one. And above all, the year that saw us working together towards a common goal.
Family ties and close connections run deep at Kingswood. The history between our past and our present is interwoven, and all add to the rich fabric that makes up our Kingswood family.
A very different term to what we have ever encountered before, but the possibilities and excitement of what lies ahead in terms of the digital learning sphere is running over.
