With the welcome rains and our return to the College campus, we look forward to an exciting and busy first term. It is such a great honour for me to head up such an important and historical institution and I would like to thank all our Kingswoodian families that have been so welcoming over the past few weeks. Makhanda is already beginning to feel like home. I look forward to the year and am cognizant of the challenges that I may face, however I look forward to serving the Kingswood community for many years to come.
Kingswood College is humbled and proud to announce the launch of our very first Legacy Scholarship, The Trevor Stewart Scholarship, for 2023. A fully funded scholarship for a child or grandchild of an Old Kingswoodian. This scholarship is named after its benefactor, Mr Trevor Stewart (OK 1963 Chubb).
With three days of non-stop cricket and the opportunity to meet, train and learn from some of the best, the Kingswood College Cricket Clinic, which kicked off yesterday, is the perfect start to the upcoming cricket season.
On the 28th of December 2021, the annual Kingswood Golf Day took place at The Royal Port Alfred Golf Course.
The Neil & Faith Collett Cup was awarded at the Gr 7 leavers’ dinner held at the Wyvern Club last week. This trophy was donated by the late Neil (OK 1970) and Faith Collett
What better way to end the 2021 year, than by joining us for the 22nd annual Kingswood Golf Day in Port Alfred on the 28th of December.
Thank you to the Hartzenberg family for presenting Kingswood with the Hartzenberg Inter House Cricket Trophy which will be presented to the winners of the interhouse cricket competition each year. The first winners of the trophy – Gane House!
Allan Keartland (OK 1950) visited Kingswood during the recently held parents’ week. Melanie (OK 1982), his daughter, brought him down from Johannesburg to not only visit his Alma Mater but to visit his granddaughter Panama who is currently enrolled at Kingswood – yes three generations.
Born in Zimbabwe, raised in Jagger House at Kingswood, @Jack Denton (OK 2013) has just made it onto the South African news and social media feeds and we can’t resist a share – “Kolisi signs gleeful Bok fan’s SA flag underwear” (SA Rugby Mag)!
Sunday, 14 November 2021 was the annual district Remembrance Day Parade. Representatives from Kingswood College (Senior and Junior School) as well as the Old Kingswoodian Club laid wreaths in remembrance during the parade. Remembrance Day serves to commemorate all those who have died in conflict in the service of freedom.
